Description

Get your Latin fix on Thursdays in Manly! Come along to discover new ways to connect, communicate and laugh at yourself and the whole craziness of dancing. It’s not about two people doing the same thing as the same time. It’s a language. Once you know it. You can use it to communicate and dance with anyone in the world who knows how to Salsa.

You can dance with someone with perfect communication and not share one word of common language. It really grounds you in the moment and allows you to become present, buzzing yet relaxed. Whoever is leading (ladies are more than welcome to lead here) needs to learn how speak / lead clearly. Followers on the other hand need to learn how to listen and let go of predicting what will happen. It’s all about letting go which is harder than it sounds. Once you do though… it’s a truly incredible experience.

What you will learn during both of the level 1 courses
1. Basic, side step, open step
2. Right Turn
3. Enchufla
4. Cross Body Lead
5. Cross Body Turn (travelling 1 & 1/2 left turn)

You need to complete both level 1 (beginner) courses before moving up to level 2 or have experience with another school. The moves above are all mandatory to know to enter level 2 courses.

What to bring? Imagine you’re going to the gym. Bring water, comfy shoes, comfy clothes (presume you will get hot), a small towel is always a great idea too. Also, snacks help. Especially if you know you’re tired after work. Sweets or a banana always help as well.

If you have time, a shower and a quick brush of the teeth are always welcome for social dancing. Some people bring spare shirts if they know they sweat a lot which is always a great idea. Most social dancers bring a spare shirt. And we always provide deodorant and chewing gum at the door. Please indulge!

See you on the dance floor!
